Each year, local governments throughout the Commonwealth receive thousands of requests from businesses and other organizations asking for a wide range of data to use in their reporting and other activities.
Filling each one of these requests would require a considerable amount of additional manhours, thus robbing the taxpayers of countless hours and dollars.
In an effort safeguard the taxpayer’s interests, out of state residents and / or organizations are not entitled to make Freedom of Information Act requests to local governments in Virginia (§ 2.2-3700.B) and Wythe County will not honor these requests.
